April Ross

April Ross was one of just a handful of women beach volleyball players who have won medals during more than one Olympics. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian and will join her in Tokyo. Her sophomore year was the time she suffered a tremendous personal setback but managed to be a second All-American. In her last two years of participation in the Trojans team, she led the Trojans to winning a national title each year. Individually she had cemented herself as an all-time legend by winning the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the highest ranked female volleyball player. Ross, an USC international relations student was a star in volleyball. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, did not have the chance to watch Ross' daughter blossom into an international beach volleyball star. Ross suffered the loss of her mother to breast cancer in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She is devoted to her late parent. Margie has inspired her in her life and on the beach.
