Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz - was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her after the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors as well as editors. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father came from a Jewish origin.
