Aaliyah Dana Haaughton rose to fame after releasing the album she dubbed Age Ain't Nothing More Than an Number in 1994. At the age of 15 the album was awarded Gold status. The album was an album that was heavily in the style of R. Kelly and it placed her in the limelight. In 1996, she collaborated with Jermaine Dpri and Timbaland on her sophomore studio album One In A Million, which featured the #1 hit single If Your Girl Knew. Following the success of this album, Aaliyah received international recognition as an R&B performer. She starred with martial arts legend Jet Li in the 2000 action-romance film Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver spotted her in an awards show. In 2002 she had the opportunity to be part of the vampire flick Queen of the Damned which was inspired by The Anne Rice novel. Aarti uses both Aarti Majumdar and Aarti Munn as her professional names. Although she began with minor film and TV parts, her acting career began to gain momentum around the mid 2000s. She has also appeared in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy as well as Grey's Anatomy. Her commercials have featured big brands, like Volvo. She lives in Los Angeles along with her spouse, daughter, and husband. She is also pursuing her acting career.
